Semi-volatiles Department Manager
**Kelly Scientific Resources is searching for a Semi-volatiles Department Manager in Agawam, MA. Our client specializes in providing quality analytical data and exceptional customer service for a wide variety of environmental interests. They offer a full range of test methods for sediments, soils, sludge, solid waste, hazardous waste, drinking water, groundwater, industrial wastewater, plant and animal tissue, and air. Their labs are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to automate analysis deliverables, ensure data accuracy, and make results readily available to clients.**

**Semi-volatiles Department Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following** **:**

**·Lead team, schedule, and train employees**

**·Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations**

**·Ensure coverage and performance**

**·Foster morale and teamwork**

**·Oversee the day to day operations of the SVOC department**

**·Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in the department operations**

**·Responsible for coverage and performance of department staff**

**·Responsible for the supervision, organization, and coordination of all technical activities of personnel within the principles of sound scientific endeavors, business economy, and the professional development of subordinate employees.**

**·Assist and cross-train analysts in the performance of SVOC methods**

**·Identify and implement improvements to the operational systems used**

**·Resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure proper staffing levels are maintained each week**

**·Perform data review and analysis as needed**

**·Reports directly to lab director and update routinely on daily operations**

**·Responsible for employee performance evaluations and career progression**

**·Responsible for budget deviations and explanation of significant deviations**

**·Responsible for departmental targeted TAT benchmarks**

**·Improve department processes that will drive efficiencies and innovation**

**·Responsible for client inquiries regarding analyses performed**

**·Understand and follow each Quality System document relevant to employment responsibilities, e.g., methods, SOPs, etc. Propose changes to documents and approve documents when required**

**The ideal candidate would possess** **:**

**·Strong leadership, initiative and teambuilding**

**·Strong computer, scientific and organizational skills**

**·Excellent communication and attention to detail**

**·Ability to work independently and part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and positive attitude**

**·Must be able to work with people, negotiate, analyze problems, and translate company goals into actions necessary to achieve those goals.**

**Basic Minimum Qualifications** **:**

**·Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience**

**·MS or PhD preferred**

**·At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role**

**·Knowledge of QA/QC requirements, data flagging and LIMS**

**·Knowledge of environmental laboratory testing methods and regulations**

**·Ability to understand and analyze financial statements**

**·Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship**

**Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with additional hours as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Agawam, Massachusetts are encouraged to apply.**
