Senior Project Lead/Electrical Engineer
Provide the creative and project leadership for the plant modernization objectives. In this role, the incumbent will utilize an extensive knowledge of bonded abrasive manufacturing equipment, processes, production costs, alternative manufacturing technologies and market requirements to creatively identify areas where re-engineering or the application of new technologies can result in significant improvement.


Incumbent must integrate a variety of information from production performance, process engineering, R&D, and financial statistics to identify where the potential for improvement exists. If new technologies are involved, the incumbent must be able to assess the technical and financial risks and effectively communicate and coordinate support amongst the functional areas, both internal and external. The incumbent is a primary contributor to the long term capital investment and manufacturing cost/quality improvement strategy and is the primary owner of to determine return on investment analysis.


The incumbent is responsible for overall project management and all active capital projects and major repairs. S/he must ensure the technical viability and that performance payback objectives are met. Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate the objectives and obtain the necessary approvals. Once approved, incumbent provides project management direction for each project.


Principal End Results







+ Lead the manufacturing modernization efforts through extensive knowledge of plant operations, manufacturing economics, process of dynamics and alternative technologies.



+ Coordination and management of planning and administrative activities related to engineering issues.



+ Investigate, develop and implement Quality Assurance methods, systems, and procedures to ensure that established standards of products, accuracy, and performance are maintained.



+ Identify trends that adversely impact production efficiencies or quality and develop and implement plans for lasting corrective actions.



+ Initiate Management of Change procedure as required for new equipment, components, or processes.



+ Develop, evaluate, and document trials to improve processes, increase production, and/or improve manufacturing techniques.



+ Lead all factory experimentation and commercial scale-up manufacturing operations for all new or modified products. Responsible for updating the specifications system for all products.



+ Lead project management of capital investment initiatives including vendor selection and management and small project fabrication.



+ Co-lead World Class Manufacturing Reliability Pillar in support of the Saint-Gobain Lean philosophy



+ Mentor Equipment Technicians to improve troubleshooting capability







+ BS in Electrical Engineering



+ Extensive industrial manufacturing experience including knowledge of project management, tooling materials, hydraulic control methods, material handling and machining processes.



+ Demonstrated ability to design, manage, and implement projects of a technical mature which may require preparation of equipment specifications and bid documents.



+ Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills



+ Strong PC skills required including working knowledge of AutoCAD



+ Must be able to communicate well at all levels within the organization. This includes R&D, Product Managers, factory supervision, machine operations, etc.



+ Expertise with Machine Control: Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC, Relay Logic



+ Expertise with 480 power, AC/DC Power



+ Lean background/experience preferred
