Job Description:

Job Summary

+ Our Client, an education publishing company, is seeking a Software Developer possessing a bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline and 2 - 5 years' experience developing software with a team.

+ Work closely with product owners and teams to lead feature implementation and/or source third party solutions when appropriate.

+ Contribute to standards and best practices around development processes, coding, and peer reviews.

+ Optimize existing systems to improve performance and scalability through service/application tuning and code refactoring.

+ Fully and properly test code to ensure the highest levels of reliability and maintainability.

+ Research and recommend software solutions and tools that help fix inefficiencies in the development process, team collaboration, etc.

+ Help lead and drive development operations initiatives.

+ Provide assistance to CM, QA and support personnel as needed to troubleshoot lower environment as well as production issues.

+ Resolves customer complaints and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.

+ Participates in the development of software user manuals.

+ Develop, and maintain software applications by following Company practices and standards

+ Engage with product managers, project managers, business analysts, systems architects, software developers, software quality assurance analysts, and database administrators to share understanding of project goals and tasks

+ Collaborate with business analysts to develop align business goals and requirements with technical specifications

+ Understand and promote best practices for software security, performance, and maintainability

+ Participate in code reviews with peers and supervisor

+ Employ strong organizational and planning skills to estimate project work and keep projects on schedule

+ Collaborate with project team and stakeholders providing development estimates and feedback on proposed scheduling

+ Provide support to operational teams for troubleshooting and evaluating solutions for production software systems

+ Prepare regular reports on all assigned activities as required by supervisor

+ Develop software testing and deployment processes for newly developed software

+ Advise software quality assurance group on development of test plans for integration and system test coverage and execution


Minimum Education Requirement

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired


+ 2 - 5 years' experience developing software with a team

+ 2+ years of data modeling, analysis, data protection preferably using Microsoft SQL Server

+ 2+ years' experience developing object orients applications using SOAP/WCF/Web API or similar protocols and technologies

+ Experience with release engineering, systems integration or configuration management

+ Experience building and deploying web-based or distributed applications using Microsoft tools and technologies including Visual Studio, Windows Server, IIS, ASP.NET, ASP, SQL Server

+ Experience with build automaton, continuous integration and other Agile development techniques preferred

+ Experience building web and client-server applications and services using Microsoft tools and technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, WCF, MVC, Web API, SQL Server

+ Experience complying with standards for mission-critical enterprise software requirements for system performance, scalability, security, data protection and encryption, regulation compliance, usability, ease of implementation, supportability, maintainability, and data center considerations

+ Good understanding of client-side technologies like JavaScript frameworks/libraries, CSS/SASS/LESS frameworks, AJAX/XMLHttpRequest, JSON, HTML5.

+ Working knowledge of web standards and web browser capabilities; ability to create cross-browser, cross-platform, WCAG 2.0 Compliant/accessible pages

+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Experience with agile/iterative software development methodologies

+ Ability to gather and document system requirements and technical architecture

+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team

+ Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

+ Ability to work in a deadline driven environment

+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

+ Excellent customer service attitude
